From a converted RIC barracks in Co Wicklow to artisan cottages and traditional family houses in suburbia, there’s a lot to view this weekend, writes FRANCES O'ROURKE
A LARGE cottage surrounded by woodland two miles from the village of Avoca in Co Wicklow has had its price cut to €395,000, down from €695,000 in 2007. The price drop is partially explained by a reduction in the amount of land being offered. Previously the five-bedroom house came with seven acres. Now it is for sale with one acre, according to Knight Frank. Called The Old Barracks, it’s a substantial five-bedroom house with 250sq m (2,500sq ft). Once the local RIC barracks, built in the 1840s, the house has been renovated and extended over the years.
