  • Top Euro fitness chain opens new unit and plans expansion

    The major European health club chain, Fitness First, has taken its second retail warehouse park unit in Northern Ireland and is still understood to be seeking suitable sites in the Republic. The Belfast office of agents Lisney acted for Fitness First in acquiring the 12,000 sq ft unit at the Toscana Retail Warehouse Park, on the Ring Road outside Bangor, Co Down. The unit has been let at £8 stg per sq ft.
  • £3.2m for residential site in former Cork school

    Hamilton Osborne King in Cork has achieved £3.2 million for a three-acre site with residential potential in the grounds of the former Rochelle boarding school on the old Blackrock Road, in Cork. The site has limited access on to the road, and potential purchasers were in talks with town planners before the purchase of the site about potential residential densities. The price achieved, of around £1 million per acre, is seen as reflecting the strong interest in good residential sites in the city. Also last Wednesday, Jordan Auctioneers of Kildare achieved £3.65 million for a 25-acre site zoned for industrial and warehouse development on the Newbridge side of Naas. The site has immediate access to a slip road and interchange on the N7 motorway.
  • Lahinch restaurant and hostel on the market

    Leyden Auctioneers in Co Clare is selling the ailte approved Lahinch Hostel and its restaurant, The Bay View, at auction on August 11th.
  • Galway office space investment for £1.6m-plus

    The McInerneys Holdings Plc subsidiary, Hillview Securities, has disposed of its investment interest in The Cornstore, a mixed residential and commercial scheme at St Augustine Street, Galway. The investment, comprising the entire 10,000 square feet of office space in Cornstore, achieved £1.625 million, representing a yield of 5.1 per cent before using the capital allowances. William McCabe of selling agents, Mason Owen & Lyons, reported tremendous interest in the investment due to the relative rarity of such quality tax designated property.
