Using church as a funeral parlour

Madam, – I read with increasing incredulity the continuing saga over the use of churches in the diocese of Galway as funeral parlours (Home News, March 9th).

Why can the people of Liscannor not do what generations of Irish people have done, and continue to do in other parts of Ireland, and wake their loved ones at home in the presence of family and friends? A church is no substitute for the warmth and support that a house wake provides. – Yours, etc,
