Candidates at the doorsteps
Madam, – As one of the many tax-paying citizens of Ireland who await the long-heralded civil partnership bill, I was bemused when I queried its status with a local election candidate of a Government party at my doorstep this week.
He advised me that “our politicians are busier with more important things like the credit crunch /fiscal crisis and anyhow there is no real demand for it”. Can I encourage all your readers to query those who daily harangue us at our doorsteps to raise this issue so that our politicians realise you can never be too busy for basic civil rights. – Yours, etc,
