Corrib gas controversy
Madam, – In what may become the greatest economic depression in history, the Government is intent on giving away our €5 trillion worth of oil and gas resources to Shell and company, while Maura Harrington is sent for a psychiatric assessment. The irony is killing me. – Yours, etc,
PAUL LYNCH,

Macroom,
Co Cork.
Madam, – Senator David Norris has criticised the jailing of Ms Maura Harrington for slapping the face of a garda. “I had my face slapped and the person did not go to jail for 28 days,” he said ( Seanad Report, March 13th).
The pomposity of his statement is staggering. His defence of an assault on a serving member of the Garda is unforgivable. – Yours, etc,
DAVID WHITE,
New Ross,
Co Wexford.
