Volunteer Ireland begins campaign
Volunteer Ireland has launched a campaign to increase the number of people giving their services and time for free in Irish society.
The organisation’s aim is to increase the number of volunteers during the European Year of Volunteering.
The initiative, which is sponsored by Mars, starts with the painting of the Fairgreen Hostel in Galway on June 18th, followed by a cleaning and painting scheme as part of the Ballymun Regeneration Scheme, while finally support will be provided at the Irish Heart Foundation’s Bike ’n’ Hike fundraiser in Cork and Kerry on July 16th.
MTV presenter Laura Whitmore and Leinster and Ireland rugby star Luke Fitzgerald have agreed to act as ambassadors for the project.
