PUBLIC SECTOR PAY:THE GOVERNMENT will introduce tiered pay cuts of 5 per cent to 8 per cent for most staff in the public service as part of a plan to reduce the public sector pay bill by more than €1 billion next year.

Higher earners face salary reductions of 8 per cent to 15 per cent while the Taoiseach’s pay will be cut by 20 per cent in line with recommendations of a recent report of the Review Body on Higher Remuneration.
