Man remanded over murder of two jockeys
A man charged with the murders of two young jockeys who died in a fire at a flat was remanded in custody until December 4th by magistrates yesterday.
Peter Brown (37) appeared at Scarborough Magistrates Court for a brief hearing accused of murdering apprentices Jamie Kyne (18) and Jan Wilson (19), on September 15th this year.
Mr Kyne, from Claregalway, Co Galway, and Ms Wilson, from Forfar, Scotland, died in the blaze at a flats complex in Norton, near Malton, north Yorkshire.
The deaths shocked the racing world and a series of tributes were held at racecourses across Britain and Ireland.
Mr Brown, Knottingley, north Yorkshire, appeared in the dock flanked by three security officers.
He spoke only to confirm his personal details. There was no application for bail.
