New head of Garda Press Office appointed
THE GARDA Press Office has announced the appointment of a new office head.
Chief Supt Kevin Donohoe, who has been assigned to the Clare Garda Division, has been replaced by Supt John Gilligan from Co Mayo.
Supt Donohoe, from Dublin, has spent four years in charge of the press office.
He will be based in Ennis.
The Garda Press Officer reports directly to Garda Commissioner Facthna Murphy. He has a staff of 12 - four sergeants, seven gardaí and a civilian administrative assistant.
The director of communications for the Garda Síochána is Sinéad McSweeney. She is a former director of media and public relations for the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
