Telephone numbers to change
LANDLINE PHONE numbers in parts of counties Cork, Kerry, Longford and Tipperary are set to change, Eircom announced yesterday.
The number change is being introduced by the communications regulator ComReg to ensure that adequate reserves of telephone numbers exist for customers and services.
Eircom said numbers in the 023, 043, 052 and 064 areas will all gain two extra digits.
The old numbers and new will operate in parallel for approximately six months beginning on November 3rd. Local numbers in the affected areas will have two digits added to the start of the existing five digit number. However the area code will not change.
Customers living in Bandon, Longford, Granard, Clonmel, Cahir, Killenaul, Killarney and Rathmore will all be affected by the alteration in numbers.
