Fri 09 Sep 2008Only one in four aware of EU polls next year
ONLY ONE in four Irish people who took part in an EU-wide survey earlier this year were aware that elections to the European Parliament are taking place in 2009.
Fewer than four in 10 said they would definitely vote. The level of Irish awareness of the elections, at 24 per cent, compares to an EU average of just 16 per cent and only 3 per cent of those polled in the UK and Finland. Residents of Luxembourg have the highest level of awareness, at 43 per cent.
