DOES IT WORK: Dónal Ó Mathúnalooks at Milk thistle as a treatement for liver problems.
MILK THISTLE is native to the Mediterranean region, and has been used since the time of ancient Greece to treat a variety of liver diseases. Several names have been used for the plant, including holy thistle, St Mary thistle and Our Lady's thistle. These names come from the white veins on the plant's leaves which were said to carry the milk of the Virgin Mary.
