Man dies after Co Galway crash

A 51-year-old man died in a road traffic collision in Co Galway last night.

The crash that occurred at approximately 10.45pm on the N59 Clifden to Westport Road at Doire Na Cloiche.

Gardaí said the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, lost control of his SUV and was fatally injured in the subsequent impact.

The road was partially closed to facilitate a forensic examination but it has since re-opened.
