Two held over Arklow murder

Gardaí  have arrested two men in connection with the death of a shopkeeper in Arklow  this week.

Father-of-two John Deasy (44) was stabbed to death on Wednesday evening at his shop on Coolgreaney Road, Arklow.

Mr Deasy had confronted a man who demanded money from a female assistant. and received a stab wound in the ensuing tussle. He was treated by emergency services but died at the scene. 

Gardaí are questioning two men in connection with the incident. One is being held in Arklow Garda station, while the second man is detained at Wicklow Garda station.

Both men are being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1994.
