We must capture the imaginations of young people and show them how science is important to their lives if we are to develop a culture of innovation here.

It will help in the development of the smart economy, according to Minister of State for science, Conor Lenihan.

He was speaking this morning at the launch of a Fusion Energy Exhibition at Dublin City University. The exhibition would help show students the relevance of science in a fun and innovative way, he said.

The Fusion Expo is hosted by DCU's National Centre for Plasma Science and Technology, which conducts research into fusion energy, the power source of the sun. It was brought here as part of the ongoing Science
Week activities, is open to the public free of charge and includes a short film explaining fusion.

It remains open through Friday 13th November and then moves to the Elysium in Cork for next week. ENDS
