150 new jobs for Derry
CHARLIE TAYLOR and FRANCESS McDONNELL
Firstsource, one of India’s fastest-growing outsourcing companies, is to create 150 jobs at its call centre in Derry.
The positions are in addition to the 100 new jobs announced late last month.
Firstsource already employs over 1,000 people in Northern Ireland.
The new positions have been created following the awarding of a new contract with a major telecommunications client. Recruitment is to commence tomorrow.
The company is taking a lease on a new site at Spencer Road in Derry. It also has a second facility in the city based in Northland Road.
Firstsource, which has more than 25,000 employees globally, was among the first India-based business processing outsourcing (BPO) companies to invest in Northern Ireland. The firm, which provides call centre and business process management services, also operates a contact centre in Belfast which employs 400 people.
The company recently won the Best Telecommunications Outsourcing Project from the National Outsourcing Association and was named as UK Investor of the Year in the recent UK Trade & Industry Awards.
