Death in Kerry investigated

A woman’s body has been found in a flat in Co Kerry.

She was found dead at 2.45am this morning after emergency services were called to the apartment in Castle Street, Tralee.

Gardaí are investigating whether the woman, who is understood to be in her 20s and originally from Cork, died as a result of a fall or an assault. She is believed to have sustained head injuries.

Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster conducted a preliminary examination of the scene this morning.

The body was removed to Cork University Hospital for a postmortem examination.
