Gardai seize 7,000 swords in Dublin
Gardaí in Dublin have seized 7,000 swords and a number of air rifles, it has emerged.
The weapons were recovered in the north inner city area on Monday in an operation by gardaí based at the Bridewell station.
About 7,000 swords of different length and specification, and also a number of air rifles, were seized at a number of different premises, a Garda statement said.
The Garda crime prevention unit, assisted by the district detective Unit, divisional crime task force, and the neighbourhood policing unit were involved in the searches.
Two men in their 20s were interviewed in relation to the seizure at the Bridewell Garda station and have since been released without charge, pending a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
