Cannabis worth €1 million seized

Drugs with an estimated street value of €1 million were seized last night following a raid on a premises in Co Wicklow.

Up to 100kg of cannabis (75kg herbal and 25kg of resin) was seized from the property at Hempstown, Blessington.

The drugs were recovered as part of a joint operation involving officers from Revenue's Customs Service and the Garda National Drug Unit.

A garda spokesman said the drugs had arrived from Holland through Dublin Port earlier in the day and were concealed in a consignment of lamps and clothing.
