Woman killed in Galway crash

A woman was killed when she was struck by a car when out walking in Co Galway last night.

A garda spokeswoman said the 85-year-old victim died after being hit by the car shortly after 7pm at the Square in Ballygar.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and later removed to Ballinasloe mortuary.

Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to contact them.
