Fri 12 Dec 2008Two freed in Quinn murder investigation

Two men arrested by police in Northern Ireland for questioning about the murder of Paul Quinn in Co Monaghan over a year ago were released without charge late last night.

The 21-year-old from Cullyhanna in south Armagh was lured across the border in October last year and beaten to death in farm buildings at Castleblaney, Co Monaghan.

Sinn Féin has strenuously denied family accusations that members of the IRA were responsible.

Despite numerous arrests on both sides of the border - several in recent weeks - no one has ever been charged with the murder.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said the latest two detainees, who were being questioned at the Serious Crime Suite in Antrim after being arrested yesterday morning were freed last night.
