RTÉ digital radio services to begin
CHARLIE TAYLORSix new radio stations are set to go live from tomorrow with the introduction of RTÉ's digital radio services.
The six services: RTÉ Choice, RTÉ Junior, RTÉ Gold, RTÉ 2XM, RTÉ Pulse and RTÉ Chill, are available to listen to nationwide online at www.rte.ie/digitalradio.
Those living in the Greater Dublin area, Cork and Limerick have the option of listening to the new stations on DAB digital radio sets.
RTÉ Choice is RTÉ Radio 1’s complementary or sister speech service. It will broadcast vintage RTÉ Radio programmes and also shows programming from international public service broadcasters such as National Public Radio (NPR) and the BBC World Service.
RTÉ Junior is Ireland’s first kids only radio service. Aimed at children aged 2 to 12 the station will broadcast chart music, nursery rhymes and bedtime stories.
RTÉ 2XM is an alternative station while RTÉ Pulse is dedicated to dance music.
RTÉ Chill is a late night service of electronica, ambient and chill-out music and RTÉ Gold will feature hits from the‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s.
