Gardai appeal for witnesses to fatal crash

Gardai have appealed for witnesses to a crash in which a truck driver was killed on the M4 motorway in Co Kildare today.

Two trucks collided on the westbound carriageway of the motorway between the Celbridge interchange and the Maynooth exit at about 8.55am.

The 40-year-old driver of one of the trucks died at the scene. His body was taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.

The driver of the other truck was also injured. His injures are not believed to be life threatening.

There were no other vehicles involved.

Gardai at Maynooth asked for anyone in the area at the time of the crash to contact them.
