Tickets for AC/DC’s first concert in Ireland in 12 years sold out within three minutes this morning.
Ticketmaster Ireland managing director Eamonn O’Connor said it was “one of the fastest selling concerts we ever had”.
At one stage, 12,000 fans were logged on to try and buy tickets. There was also long queues outside Ticketmaster outlets across the country. AC/DC play the O2 Point at April 18th, their only show in Ireland.
The band, who released their new album
Black Icein Ireland yesterday, also sold out concerts in London, Manchester and Birmingham within minutes of the tickets going on sale. Tickets for a second show in London on April 16th also sold out immediately.
Fans will now hope that AC/DC, consistently one of the biggest live draws in the world, will play a second concert in the O2 Point on April 17th. Pink is scheduled to play at the venue on the Sunday.
However, music insiders say there are “no plans” for a second AC/DC concert. “We would love to have them. We could sell 10 shows, but we were lucky to get one,” a source said.
Speculation about a possible outdoor summer show is also premature as the band has not announced any plans for a summer stadium tour.
