Gardai investigate Cork, Limerick shootings
AOIFE CARRGardai in Cork are investigating an incident in which shots were fired at a garda patrol car at a halting site on the Carrickigrohane Road in Bishopstown last night.
Gardai on a routine patrol in the area were fired on by two men in a stolen Volkswagen Golf at around midnight.
No-one was injured.
The car was later found abandoned on the north side of the city. It will be technically examined later today.
The scene of the shooting has also been preserved for technical examination.
Elsewhere, a man (21) is in hospital after being shot in the leg in Limerick City last night.
The incident happened in Garryowen at around 11.15pm.
The victim was taken to the Midwestern Regional Hospital in Limerick. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
