Death of McGuinness's mother announced
The mother of Northern Ireland Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness died today after a short illness.
Peggy McGuinness (84), from Elmwood Street, Derry, died at home this morning, Sinn Féin said.
SDLP leader Mark Durkan offered his condolences. “I am saddened to hear of the death of Peggy McGuinness. She was a very kindly woman with real charm," he said.
“I offer sincere condolences to Martin McGuinness and Peggy’s entire family at their sad loss.”
