Taoiseach appoints Corrigan to NESF
DEAGLÁN DE BRÉADÚN, Political CorrespondentTaoiseach Brian Cowen has nominated Senator Maria Corrigan to the National Economic and Social Forum (NESF).
The National Economic and Social Forum advises the Government on achieving greater equality and inclusion in the context of social partnership and to facilitate public consultation on policy matters.
Chaired by Dr Maureen Gaffney, it includes representatives of different Dail parties, employer, trade union and farming organisations, as well as the community and voluntary sector.
“I welcome the opportunity to make a contribution to this forum, particularly in relation to the areas of equality and social inclusion” said Senator Corrigan.
“I look forward to the opportunity to broaden my own knowledge and awareness and to bring this experience to my work as a public representative.”
Senator Corrigan is being tipped as a possible Fianna Fáil candidate in the Dublin South by-election caused by the death of her party colleague, Seamus Brennan TD.
