Sat 08 Aug 2008Gardai issue severe flash flood warning in Dublin
Gardaí have issued a warning about extreme flash flooding in many areas of north and west Dublin.
A large number of roads are impassable, including the N3 Navan Road outbound as far as the Blanchardstown shopping centre, the M50 between the Finglas and Ballymun exits and the Port Tunnel.
Blackhorse Avenue, Collins Avenue, Botanic Avenue, Kylemore Road and the Chapelizod Bypass have been badly hit.
Traffic is also badly disrupted or blocked on the Navan Road roundabout between Blanchardstown and Clonee and the N4 outbound at Palmerstown.
Garda diversions are currently in place around many parts of the capital due to severe flooding and long delays are to be expected.
