Woman dies after being hit by truck in west Cork

Gardaí investigating fatal road traffic collision on Wolfe Tone Square

A woman in her 70s has died after being hit by a truck in Bantry, Co Cork.

Gardaí in the town are investigating following the fatal road traffic collision that occurred on Wolfe Tone Square at midday on Saturday.

The driver of the truck was uninjured.

The woman’s body has been removed to Cork University Hospital where a post mortem examination will take place.

A technical and forensic examination of the scene is taking place by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road is currently closed with local diversions in place.
