Suicide bomber attacks British embassy vehicle in Afghanistan

A suicide bomber crashed into a British embassy vehicle in Kabul on Thursday, an embassy spokesman said.

The explosion killed five people, including one Briton, and wounded 33 Afghan bystanders.

Taliban insurgents claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it “targeted foreign invading forces”.

The attack is the latest in a series of bombings in Kabul and comes as most foreign troops are set to withdraw from Afghanistan before the end of the year.

Afghan officials initially said the bomber was riding a motorcycle but now say the attacker was in a car.

On Monday, another bomb in Kabul killed two US soldiers in their vehicle.
