A woman who robbed a taxi driver while threatening him with a syringe after he spurned her sexual advances has been sentenced to five years with the final two suspended.

Mary Ward (30) offered sex to the driver and quoted him prices for various sexual acts. When he didn’t express interest she decided to rob him. Ward, of Nelson St, Dublin 7, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to robbery of the driver and threatening him with a syringe at Blackhall Place, as well as attempted robbery of another taxi driver at a Spar shop in Inchicore on August 27th, 2011. The first driver told her he kept his money in the boot and as they went to the back of the car, he grabbed Ward by the wrist. She fled and got another taxi, where she produced the syringe again.
