Two men have been arrested following the discovery of cannabis worth an estimated €630,000 in Co Limerick yesterday.

Two men have been arrested following the discovery of cannabis worth an estimated €630,000 in Co Limerick yesterday.

Gardaí stopped and searched a car on the Ballysimon Road at about 1pm and discovered about €500,000 worth of cannabis herb and resin.

In a follow up search a short time later, gardaí discovered about €130,000 worth of cannabis in a house in the Rhebogue area of Limerick.

A man in his early 30s was being held at Bruff Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

A man in his early 40s was held at Henry Street Garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act 1996.

The two men were released without charge today and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
