Imagine you're two years old. You wake to find yourself in a darkened house, with an unseen threat following your every move. That's the story behind Among the Sleep, an indie game that was developed by Krillbite Studio and is currently for sale on the Steam store. Everything is done and told from the perspective of the child, from how you move to what you see. At times you stumble and crawl, trying to move away from the sinister threat following you as you search for your mother. Shadows are more sinister; harmless objects take on new meanings in the dark. Your only companion and source of comfort is a talking bear. Instead of overt horror and obvious monsters, Among the Sleep manages to be far scarier by implying the horrors of what could come. The gameplay fits perfectly with your limitations as a toddler; the plot that will keep you pushing to find out that last little detail. Creepy as hell – we loved it.
