Student protest at constituency office of Labour Party TD
About 70 students held a protest over third-level fees and cuts in grants outside Labour Party TD Ciara Conway’s constituency office in Co Waterford yesterday.
Ms Conway was not present to meet the students in her Dungarvan base as she was in the Dáil.
The lunchtime protest consisted mainly of students from Waterford Institute of Technology, and was the 14th of 15 being held in the Union of Students in Ireland’s current campaign about fees and grants.
USI vice-president Kate Acheson said they were asking Ms Conway and other Government TDs to prioritise education.
“It’s not just about students going into education, but about staying in education,” said Ms Acheson. “The Labour Party have lied to us repeatedly.”
