Sisters allegedly assaulted by men they met on Facebook

Gardaí investigate after women (21 and 19) say they were beaten up in Newbridge

An alleged false imprisonment and assault of two sisters, aged 19 and 21, in Newbridge, Co Kildare is being investigated by gardaí.

Amy (21) and Nicole Rice (19) from Tallaght in Dublin said they were beaten up and held hostage by two men whom they met on Facebook.

The women had agreed to go to an apartment at Francis Lane, Newbridge last Thursday evening with the men, but said they were held there against their will until Friday afternoon, during which time they allege they were the victims of multiple assaults.

Gardaí said the women received a lift on Friday afternoon, from a man driving an orange car in Newbridge to Tallaght hospital.

It is understood that the girls have since been released from hospital after suffering non life-threatening injuries.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information, particularly the man who transported the injured women to hospital from Newbridge, to contact them at Newbridge Garda station on 045 440180, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
