RSA warning over high winds
The Road Safety Authority has warned motorists that winds of up to 100km/h are expected in some areas today.
According to Met Éireann westerly winds will reach gale force this morning on Irish coastal waters from Carnsore Point to Roches Point to Mizen Head.
The RSA has advised road users to be careful of debris and other objects being blown onto roads and also a possible loss of vehicle control due to strong winds.
Motorists are also advised to slow down and to allow additional time for long journeys.
While there were reports of local flooding near Mullingar and around Roscommon town yesterday, Met Éireann said rain, mainly in the southern half of the country, will clear away eastwards today and most areas will become dry with just isolated showers.
