Publicist Max Clifford has reiterated his innocence over sexual offence allegations, telling reporters he planned to “show clearly and conclusively that there’s absolutely no truth in any of this”.

The 69-year-old stopped to speak to reporters as he left his Surrey home by car the day after being arrested by detectives investigating the Jimmy Savile sex abuse scandal.

Mr Clifford was questioned at a London police station before being released on bail.

He said he was unable to give details on the alleged offences: “No, I can’t. All I can say is that they’re totally without any foundation – they’re totally untrue. ”
