Oops... Mary Lou McDonald leaflet misspells Bobby Sands

‘Booby Sands once said that everyone has their part to play’

A Mary Lou McDonald election leaflet quoting a “Booby” Sands should be a reminder to candidates to closely proofread their campaign literature.

The Sinn Féin deputy leader’s leaflet urges voters to move away from Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil and join “a new Rising, one that puts the citizens first”.

But it goes on to say: “Booby Sands once said that ‘Everyone, republican or otherwise has their part to play’.”

Commentators on social media have said the party should consider hiring some more proofreaders after misspelling the name of the IRA member who died while on hunger strike in Long Kesh prison.
