North homes have power restored

Electricity has been restored to thousands of homes in Northern Ireland after heavy snow and high winds damaged lines.

Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE) said power was restored to the remaining 150 homes, mainly in County Down, by Saturday night.

At its peak more than 2,500 homes across Northern Ireland were affected as a result of heavy snow and high winds on Friday.

Meanwhile the Roads Service has warned there is a risk of ice, frost and snow on roads on Sunday morning.

Salting operations were undertaken last night and more were carried out this morning.
