Gardaí are still pursuing a number of lines of inquiry into the murder of a man four years ago who was shot dead in the stairwell of his apartment complex, Dublin Coroner’s Court heard.

Anthony Foster (34) from Cromcastle Court in Coolock, north Dublin, was killed on July 18th, 2008, as he was leaving his apartment with his partner.

The couple were on their way to collect their children from creche. Gardaí believe the murder is gangland related.

Det Insp Seamus Boland said the investigation remained active.

“There are avenues in the investigation that are still being investigated at the moment. I have been in contact with the family and discussed these avenues.

“It has been a complicated investigation,” he said.

Det Insp Boland said that gardaí should be in a position to know whether their current lines of inquiry will further the investigation by the end of the year.

Coroner Dr Brian Farrell adjourned the matter for further mention on December 3rd.
