He is being detained at Kevin Street Garda station under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.

An investigation began after a man with gunshot wounds was left at St James's Hospital in the south inner city at around 7pm on Friday suffering from gunshot wounds. He later died from his injuries.

The victim was Christopher Warren (35) from St Teresa's Gardens on Donore Avenue in Dublin's south inner city.

The people who left him at the hospital did not wait with him, though the blue Mercedes he was transported to St James's in was later found abandoned on Cork St in Dublin 8.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses who saw any suspicious activity in the area around 7pm to contact them at Mountjoy Garda station on 01 6668000.

Anyone who saw or heard anything unusual around Western Way, Auburn Street, or the lane leading from Western Way to the Royal Canal Bank are particularly sought.
