A MAN has been remanded in custody after he was charged with the murder of a mother of two who died following a fatal stabbing in her home in Dublin on Friday night.
Anna Finnegan (25) died in hospital after she was stabbed at her home at Allendale Glen in Clonsilla. She had been left at the entrance to the emergency department of James Connolly Memorial Hospital, in Blanchardstown, just after 9pm on Friday.
She was pronounced dead about 90 minutes later.
Her two children, aged two years and nine months, were asleep upstairs in the house at the time of the stabbing. Her brother, Karl Finnegan, was also injured in the attack and is in a stable condition at James Connolly hospital.
Yesterday Vesel Jahiri (31), Lohunda Crescent, in Clonsilla, who is the father of Ms Finnegan’s children, was brought before Blanchardstown District Court and charged with murdering her.
Det Garda Bernard Connaughton told Judge Hugh O’Donnell he arrested Mr Jahiri at 11.56pm on Sunday at Blanchardstown Garda station. He was charged 24 minutes later and in reply said: “That’s not true.”
