Jessie J tops Irish radio playlist
British singer Jessie J may tell you “it’s not about the money, money, money” but her catchy tune Price Tag has topped the list for the most played song on Irish radio last year.
The 24-year-old, who played the Marquee in Cork earlier this week, narrowly beat the American band Maroon 5’s worldwide hit Moves like Jagger according to the PPI’s (Phonographic Performance Ireland Limited) annual listings.
Two other female singers also headed up the chart with Adele’s Rolling in the Deep in third and J Lo’s (featuring Pitbull) On the Floor the fourth most played.
Three Irish artists made the top 30. If Ever You Come Back by The Script at number seven, We Should Be Lovers by Royseven at 11 and Voice of Ireland coach Bressie’s Can’t Stay Young Forever coming in at number 21.
Grammy Award winning American singer Bruno Mars proved particularly popular with four hits placing in the top 30 - Lazy Song (5th), Grenade (6th), Marry You (17th) and Just the Way You Are (28th).
Rhianna and Adele had three singles apiece in the top 30 while Katie Perry and Lady Gaga had two each.
The list is compiled by the PPI from 2.6 million airplays across 37 national and local stations.
