Irish man stabbed in Benidorm
A 17-year-old Irish man is recovering in hospital in Spain following a stabbing incident in Benidorm.
The teenager suffered stab wounds to the chest following an attack on Calle Juan Fuster Zaragoza in the Costa Blanca town at about 6pm on Sunday evening.
He was taken to hospital where his condition is described as serious.
Police later arrested a 33-year-old Algerian man in connection with the incident.
Police are trying to establish if the attack is connected to a fight in the town on Saturday night during which a Moroccan national was wounded.
A spokeswoman for the Department of Foreign Affairs said it is offering consular assistance to the young man and his family.
