Woman in 50s dies in Carrickfergus collision

Two men taken to hospital with non-serious injuries; Road reopens after overnight closure

A woman in her 50s has died after a two-car collision in Co Antrim last night.

The collision took place near the Marine Highway in Carrickfergus .

Chief Inspector Natalie Wilson of the PSNI said a Green Suzuki Ignus and a Black Seat Leon had collided shortly before 8pm.

Two men were taken to hospital for treatment but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The road between Troopers Lane and the Marine Highway was closed to allow for forensic collision investigators to examine the scene.

Police have reopened the road today and have appealed for information.
