Teenager drowns while swimming in Dublin reservoir

Body of 16-year-old recovered from lower lake at Bohernabreena this afternoon

A teenage boy has died while swimming in a reservoir in Dublin earlier today.

The body of the 16-year-old was recovered from the lower lake at the reservoir in Bohernabreena after a search was launched at around 4pm.

Early indications are that the deceased was one of a number of people swimming in the fine weather and subsequently who got into difficulty.

His death comes on the same day as Irish Water Safety (IWS) issued a seasonal appeal for those entering waterways to exercise vigilance.
