Sean Quinn junior has become a father for the first time after wife Karen gave birth to a son, also named Sean.
The couple have been married since 2102 and were wed at St Mochta’s Church in Castleknock, Dublin.
Karen Quinn is the second eldest of four children, her parents Joan and Patrick Woods own the Dame Tavern pub off Dame Street in Dublin.
In 2012 Sean Quinn Junior was sentenced to three months for contempt of court along with his cousin Peter Darragh Quinn after Justice Elizabeth ruled the men had not made appropriate efforts to reverse steps taken to put assets worth hundreds of millions of euro out of reach of the Irish Bank Resolution Corporation, the former Anglo Irish Bank.
The High Court ruled last year that Sean Quinn Jnr purged his contempt of court when he and his wife Karen raised a €210,000 payment following the sale of their Dublin home.
Last week, Patrick Whelan and William McAteer were accused of 16 counts of providing unlawful financial assistance to 16 people in July 2008 to buy shares in the bank. The 16 individuals were businessman Sean Quinn’s wife and five children and the the Maple Ten group of investors. Mr Whelan and Mr McAteer were found guilty of giving illegal loans to the Maple Ten but were found not guilty over loans to the Quinn family.
