O’Driscoll and Huberman welcome second child

Former rugby player Brian O’Driscoll and actress Amy Huberman have announced the birth of their second child.

Any hopes O’Driscoll harboured of a quiet retirement have been dispelled with the arrival of a baby boy. The couple have named him Billy.

There has been no comment from O’Driscoll or Huberman yet, but a representative from their public relations firm confirmed the news.

It is the couple’s second child. Sadie was born on the day of a crucial Ireland v England Six Nations rugby match in February 2013.

Speaking to The Irish Times last year, Ms Huberman: “Before I had [Sadie] I thought ‘how hard can it be?’, but it’s a different level of exhaustion”.

She also indicated a desire to keep her children away from the media spotlight. “She’s an amazing part of our life and we’re so proud to have her, but Sadie doesn’t have a choice in all this so let’s keep her out of it,” she said.

“It’s not cloak-and-dagger, but I like that nobody has really seen her yet and that we are keeping this part of our life to ourselves.”
