Men questioned after street seizure of €20,000 worth of heroin

Gardaí say seizure part of an operation to dismantle criminal networks

Two men were found in possession of heroin with a street value of €20,000 yeserday evening.

The men were stopped and searched on Store Street with a quantity of diamorphine also known as heroin.

The arrests were made as part of an on-going intelligence led operation targeting into the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs in the north inner city.

The two men in their early 30s were arrested at the scene and are being detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Store Street Garda Station.

A garda spokeswoman said gardaí were using “advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals” and dismantle their networks.

She said street drug seizures played a “critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities”.
