Man dies following Navan car crash

Second man seriously injured in separate Co Westmeath crash

One man has died and another has been seriously injured in two separate road crashes this weekend.

A man died following a car crash just outside Navan, Co Meath yesterday afternoon.

The incident happened on the Navan to Kingscourt road around four miles outside the town shortly before 3pm.

The man was driving a car which left the road and collided with a wall.

He was transferred to Navan Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The road was closed pending examination.

Separately a man was seriously injured in a road crash in Co Westmeath early this morning.

The man in his 20s was driving a car which crashed into a ditch near Castlepollard. He was taken by ambulance to Mullingar Hospital. “His condition is believed to be serious” a Garda spokesman said.

Diversions are in place on the road ahead. Gardai have appealed for witnesses to contact Mullingar Garda station om 044-9384000
